Tips on Buying the Right Scooter
For Beginners: it's always best to stick to a bar height which is in proportion to your child height and frame. This ensures proper handling and control while riding the scooter and avoids any potential accidents from happening.
Furthermore, if possible we always recommend heading into your closet MGP dealer to try out the scooter – how does the scooter feel when you take it for a test ride? Is it comfortable? Easy to control? If so, then you’ve probably got the right fit.
Certain factors should be taken into consideration when purchasing a scooter:-
Price: We have a variety of different sized scooters and colours to suit all budgets.
Size: Please refer to our detailed Size and Comparison charts for our full range of scooters and Harsh helmets.
Scooter Bars
Height: As a general rule of thumb scooter bars should sit around hip to waist height when standing on the deck. This will ensure comfort, balance and overall performance (if park tricks are your thing)
Width: Riders have different preferences when choosing a width. A good hint is to choose a bar with the same width as your shoulders. The common range of MGP bars range from 18”-22”.
Scooter Deck
The bigger the deck the more comfortable it will be for larger riders. The smaller the deck, the easier tricks will be and overall the scooter will be lighter.
Length: MGP scooter decks range from 19" to 21" in length
Width: MGP scooter decks range from 4" to 4.8" in width.
